Boasting Panoramic awarding winning Views
This 3 level beach style house was designed by Ken Down Architects of Maroochydore (now known as CORE Architecture Pty Ltd). The open plan design has been focused on all rooms to obtain a view of Manly Harbor and Morton Bay by the use of extensive commercial glazing.
Built by Rycon Constructions and much of the material supplied by Finlaysons, the house is a mix of modern construction materials based on a suspended concrete slab and masonry block base, through to timber clad frame on the first level.
The façade features three main materials from rendered block to Sycon Linea board blended with 6mm fibre cement sheet with cover battens. The roof, downpipes and gutters are all Colourbond.
The home has a wonderful open feel to it with maximum light and ventilation a priority by the use of extensive glazing with minimum framing to ensure the views are maximized.
Stone benches and full height tiles to all bathrooms and ensuites give the home an opulent feel along with designer sanitary ware.
Warmth has been added to this contemporary design by the use of spotted gum timber in internal stairs, timber screening and secret nailed floors where 180mm wide boards were used. Spotted gum screening has also been used in the soffit of a prefabricated structural steel awning made off site and craned into position.
Gosford sandstone has been used also to complement the design with its strong grain and colour variation for the external areas but also on an internal feature wall.
The unique shape and design of the swimming pool also compliments the overall design and resort style feel the home offers with its unique glass wall to one end.
The overall detail and exceptionally high standard of workmanship are a true example of what can be achieved by combining a Masterbuilder, Architect and client working towards a common goal together.
